Mus-tard spreading it's sound By Theresa Gubbins Ugly Mus-tard had a goal: release a disc by the end of '97. Mission was accomplished on Halloween - fitting for this semi-industrial, theatrical rock band. "Our shows are basically like Halloween," says bassist M. Daane. "We get a lot of freaks showing up and our singer, K. Barker always has a different persona." This self-titled disc, on Ugly Mus-tard's own Fat Maggot label, is its second. The quartet had a debut in '95 (also self-titled) on Real Records, a California indie that has since folded. Ugly Mus-tard goes all out in its live shows, even local ones. "We try to make it an event every time we play," he says. "And we really put on a show. A lot of time and money goes into production, lights and crew." Their next one: Nov. 14 at Rick's in Denton. |
