Hit of the Week

It seems in the last few years that the Midwest has become a spawning ground for new, heavy music - and with good reason. With very little in the way of outlets for youthful pent-up aggressionand energy, it is a small wonder that it hasn't happened before now. Now, enter Ugly Mus-tard. Natives from the Lone Star State (Dallas to be exact), Ugly Mus-tard are on the verge of something dark, sinister and most definitely something huge. We first got wind of Ugly Mus-tard over a year ago when a three-song demo mysteriously appeared on the RAWK desk. No one claimed to have left it and there were no names or numbers for a contact. We were immediately blown away by the sheer intensity and energy on that demo, but with no contact, what were we to do? One of the three songs was "High," and guess what - that is the first single from Ugly Mus-tard's self-titled debut. "High" (track #1 on RAWK CD 8- on your desk May 8) hits with a vengeance and has the hooks to match, instantly identifying Ugly Mus-tard as a serious contender. Heavy guitars, industrial-strength keyboards, driving rhythms and strong vocals all work together to form the Ugly Mus-tard sound, which is steadily becoming the style for heavy in the 90's. "High" just plain fuckin' rocks! If you're down with the 90's, you don't even have to think about this one.
